    "upside down question mark" invisibles

Sometimes when I am altering/customizing a page within Miva, I will create it in Dreamweaver and copy the code. At times it works fine, but other times when I update the page with the new code it gives me an error and stops the code mid-way, saying an /mvt code is expected but not there...blah blah (simply because the code ended).

I never could figure out what was wrong, I am not a hand coder by nature and I can muddle through it, but not without losing some of my patience.

Finally, after bringing it into text wrangler, I clicked on "view invisibles".

Wha lah. There it was, an upside down question mark where the code would inevitably stop within miva.

what the hell? What is that? When I delete the little emblem, the code would work fine.

Now it is easier since I stumbled upon that little trick, I just check it before I copy it to miva, but what IS that upside down question mark, and how does it get there in Dreamweaver?

Ten to one it's Dreamweaver, which shouldn't be used to modify SMT anyway. Consider getting a raw editor, like NoteTab.

Yes, I figured it WAS Dreamweaver's fault, and I do take it into a raw text edit program that I mentioned...Text Wrangler. (I think Note Pad is for PC, I use a Macintosh).

My question is more along the lines of what the emblem is, and how does it get there in DW. Since it is intermittent, I assumed it was something I was doing.

I just thought someone would be able to tell me what it was.
