    Issuing a Refund

    MM5.5 Production Release 7
    Miva Merchant Engine v5.06

    CHASE Paymentech Orbital Gateway

When clicking on the 'Refund' button, does MM give you the opportunity to give a partial refund, or will it automatically take the full amount as the refund amount?

    Thank you.

    David,

After you enter the pass phrase, the refund button will become available. Click on the refund button and you should see an additional pop-up box with the full amount of the order. Enter the amount you would like to refund and click the refund button. Contact our support team if you run into any issues with this partial refund.

    Thank you,

    Wayne

I'm not getting either the Refund or Void buttons available after entering pass phrase. I have an order that shipped and I captured it at the time. Now 2 days later I realize I charged too much for shipping and want to go back and do a partial refund but the button wont get focus. Is there a setting somewhere I may have missed? I'm running PR7 with Empresa 5.08.

              oldsportbiker,

You'll need to make refunds or voids via the virtual terminal with Authorize.net. Currently only CHASE Paymentech Orbital Gateway and Innovative Gateway payment gateways support the refund or void of an order within the administration of Miva Merchant. I believe development will include Authorize.net with this functionality at a later date.

Yes Authorize.net will be updated at some point and it's worth noting that as of Update 7 yesterday, PayPal Website Payments Pro and Express Checkout both support in admin Refunds and Voids.
                Thanks,

Before I start conducting tests, should I be able to capture less than the Authorized amount? Am I constrained to Capture only what I authorize?
What happens if I authorize again in Miva but for a smaller amount..Will this override the original amt or be added to it? I'm looking for any way for the store owner to change the transaction amounts before capturing.

Not with Authorize.net, you can only capture the entire amount (via admin).

I'd have to do some testing on your second question. Chase Paymentech Orbital can do all the things you're trying to do, is that a possibility for you?
                    Thanks,

Am I right in thinking that I can't fully process returns using Authorize.net as well? Will I have to use my Authorize.net terminal access to issue a refund for a return?

I know my client will ask if there is a date when Authorize.net will provide those features through Miva. Do you know?

No ETA at this time, it's not in any active development queue right now either, but it's a popular feature request, so sometime in 2011 is probably safe.
                            Thanks,

According to the Miva PR8 Reference Manual, it says under PayPal Express Checkout:

PayPal Express Checkout: This is the simplest PayPal payment method. You only need to have a standard PayPal account. Orders are Authorized and Captured immediately. You cannot do refunds or voids.
I know this thread is from 2010. So, was it not possible to do refunds in 2010, but it is now, in PR8 Update 12?

I see a refund button for PayPal payment types in my orders admin. So, I'm curious…
