Amazon Checkout mystery - customers found backdoor - placing sandbox orders!

I activated Checkout by Amazon in my payments screen, but did not create a button so there is nothing visible on my payment screen.

I just found 5 customer orders in my sandbox on Amazon labeled "pending". MIVA did not create an order.

If you go to my payment screen on www.pinewoodpro.com, you will not see an Amazon option...how did customers place these orders???

Further, I can not disable Checkout by Amazon! I unchecked the Amazon items in the BASK and SFNT pages, but I still get an error that they are in use by Store Morph Items. If I try to delete the items, I'm warned that "this is permanent and can NOT be restored later." Really? Forever?

So I'm taking fake orders and I can't stop this from happening without permanently removing CBA from my store forever.

If anyone can help, I would like to:
    1. de-activate CBA, so I can re-activate it sometime in the future
    2. Find the backdoor to solve the mystery of how a customer can select Checkout by Amazon when there is no visible payment option.
    3. Get the customer information for these orders, since I have no way of telling them their order was not processed.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Amazon Checkout does not show up on the payment page. It displays a button on the BASK page and the customer would click on it to be taken to amazon. You would also have to configure your amazon checkout seller account to point back to the store to get any order information in your store.

    1. Unassign the items from every page and then you can delete the items.
    2. There is no back door. They must have clicked on the button on your store. I cannot find the button but I have to assume you've removed it.
    3. There is no way to get the customer information w/in Miva Merchant but the order in Amazon's Seller Central should have it.

Don't panic it doesn't sound like a backdoor, rather a unfinished configuration because the orders are pending. This means that Amazon didn't go back to Miva and because of that they are pending.

They're also sandbox orders so no cards were actually charged.

Oh, so the amazon account is in sandbox mode still just like a payment gateway?

            Thanks for the input...however:

There is no CBA button on my BASK page, nor anywhere else. (Not sure why it would be on BASK anyway, and not payment screen.)

Yes, I understand the cards were not charged, but these 5 customers *think* they placed orders and are waiting for them. One customer emailed to complain, which alerted me to the problem. Oh well, neither MIVA nor Amazon can get their information, so I'll just have hope they contact me.

I'll leave CBA active for another day, in case of you want to see for yourself, then I'll uncheck the items and ignore the "permanent, can not restore later" message, as Jim implies that I can re-activate CBA and all will indeed be restored later, right?

              Mystery solved!

I checked the CBA items (ie re-activated CBA) in BASK and SFNT and indeed there was no CBA button on the BASK page.

I waited a few hours, created another basket, looked again and the CBA button appeared on the BASK page!

I unchecked CBA items, the button went away again. I re-checked CBA items but the button did not appear...so I'm not losing my mind, at least not totally.

              Conclusions:
              1. CBA button only appears on the BASK screen....why?? Shouldn't it be on the Payment screen with the other payment options?
              2. There appears to be a timing quirk in MIVA. If I disable CBA, then enable it again, the CBA button does not appear. Perhaps something is tied to the basket timeout?

Hope this helps the next person find the mysterious CBA button...

Is your store up to date on PR7-update7? An older version of the Amazon module required weight on a product for the button to show up.

                1. No, the purpose of the module is to take the customer off of your site to pay. If they have to go all the way to the payment screen they have to enter their address info and then login to amazon which has their address info saved.

                2. If you're not up to date the button will only appear when you have an item with a weight value in the basket.

Yes, the store is fully up to date. Yes, I have eBook products with no weight but as you indicated, this should be OK with latest version?

Anyway, I discovered a new problem. Items added to the cart no longer show up on the Basket page!

The items are indeed in the basket because I see them on checkout.

I tried recalling previous pages, looking at the code line by line but can't see anything wrong.

Something is hosed...I'll open a ticket.
