    Quick Look or Quick View of Product

    Has anyone successfully implemented within MIVA a "quick look" or "quick view" of products similar to gap.com category pages?

    When the user mouses over a product image on a category page, an icon appears for "quick look." If clicked, there is a stripped down product detail page that appears in a popup.

    Thanks.

    I didn't see any store yet but it wouldn't be difficult to do this using our tool belt module and jQuery (lightbox).

        An old thread, yet I was thinking about dabbling into this. Any newer more updated strategies to achieve this.

          nope, same basic strategies...unless you want something custom (i.e., done for you so you can actually have time to work on your business<g>)

                That some nice work there Bruce.... I would love to get you to do that for me, yet like all else these days things a bit tight. Anyways can that can be done on my end, or is it just to advanced for a noob such as myself.

                  I hear ya...

                  Its not TOO difficult depending on what you want to show in it. If its just something that's in the Product array (i.e., full size image, custom fields, related products, then no...its not too difficult if you know how to manage CSS views (basically create a hidden div, that, on hover or click, becomes visable...plenty of examples on the web) its just a matter of stuffing the data in there. So, you have the "thumbnail" view in one div, and then right after (so you are in the Product List template) you create another div--the hidden one--with all the "quick view" content. (Look at the source of the page example and you'll see how the html is created.

                      Re: Quick Look or Quick View of Product

                      Want to tag onto this thread as I am having issues using the default Image Machine popup on the CTGY screens. I have the functionality in place, but when the popup pops up - it pops up in the same location no matter where the thumbnail is on the page. I need to have the popup closer to the thumbnail. To see this issue go here http://www.seasonstocelebrate.com/ca...her-radko.html scroll further down the page and click one of the thumbnails - the Image Machine opens the popup back at the top of the page - which I know is from the CSS:

                      .closeup {
                      position:absolute;
                      top:75px;

                      }

                      Is it just going to be a matter of figuring out the right combination for this? Has anyone come up with a good combination?

                      I had thought about switching over to Lightbox but I'd need a little help figuring out how to get the Image Machine images to work with it. The thumbnail are being generated by Image Machine.

                      Thanks!

                        Try position: relative; (and you'll probably need a negative offset about the size of the thumbnail.

                          position: relative; "kills" it - just give the gray background - no popup image.

                            I have followed these types of threads for a long time when they appear... and there is never a proper ending with a solution on how to achieve a quick view.... I have wanted to do this for a long time now yet it eludes me on how to do it. From a quick view of the image, to a full description with a add to cart within the pop. Wish there was a easy mod to instal to achieve this. Better yet, an out of the box system to do this.

                              Dan, I hear ya. I'm really frustrated with the Image Machine close up function on the CTGY screen. I haven't tested it yet on the SRCH or PLST but I'm willing to bet I'll get the same results. Which, in my book, renders the Image Machine close up useless on any screen but the PROD screen.
