    custom product field on category

    I'm trying to get a custom product field named pinterest to appear on the CTGY page.
    This is my coding:
    Code:
    <mvt:if expr="NOT ISNULL l.settings:product:customfield_values:customfields:pinterest">
    <div class="custom-field" id="customfields-pinterest">&mvte:customfield_names:customfields:pinterest;:<span class="bold">&mvt:product:customfield_values:customfields:pinterest;</span></div>
    </mvt:if>
    It's suppose to display just above the Add to Basket button for product, but it is not.
    Does anybody have any ideas why it is not?
    PR7 Update 10.
    Thanks!

    Re: custom product field on category

    Most common reason for custom fields not showing up is that one forgets to check that Custom Field checkbox in the XXXX Product List Layout template...in this case the Category Product List Layout template.

      I swear it was checked a minute ago. It's checked, saved, and working.
      Thanks, Bruce!

        If its any consultation, I have in the past, checked the box, went to another page to verify something, and then SQUIRREL!!!. (and subsequently forget to click Update.)

          What did you use this custom field for? To make a "pin it" link on your product page? If so, would you mind pm'ing me how you did this. Thanks!

            Bruce,

            I might be wacked but I can't get the custom field to display. The field is checked. I am switching to a different product template so do I need a certain item to be selected for that page? When i go to the product detail page, it's there so I know the code works.

              Not sure what you mean by "switching to a different product template" but I would double check that the same items are applied to both Pages. And, if Custom_Fields was not assigned, AFTER you assign it, you need to go to the Product List template and make sure THAT custom Product Field is selected under "Custom Fields".

                Bruce,

                Just to be clear, are you saying there is a "Custom_Fields" item in the item tap that needed to be checked? I double check the product list and that field is checked on both pages.

                Thanks

                  Bruce,

                  I couldn't find Custom_fields item in page, click on item tap. However, when I go into the global setting, module, I was able to pinpoint a module below

                  module code: customfields
                  module name: custom fields
                  supported API: 5.0
                  version:5.8000

                  Is this the module I need to add to my item tap?

                    Re: custom product field on category

                    Ok, its tricky because that names used are very simular or the same: In your Edit: CTGY page template, there is a tab called 'Category Product List Layout', click that, and just below the actual template textarea should be a list of checkboxes under the heading "Custom Fields" that's what you need to check.

                      Bruce,

                      Yes, those checkbox are checked. But it's not showing up at all. I am switching from Sebenza Category Mgr to Miva Built-in. I am completely lost as what I am missing to get those custom fields to show.

                      I also review CTGYFB page from Bill and that show the custom field. The only difference is that that page is using the "Product Display Layout" vs "Category Product List Layout".

                      It shouldn't matter since both allow you to check the custom fields to use correct?

                        Re: custom product field on category

                        On the category page there is a difference between the point and click mode and the advanced mode. If you are working in the advanced mode and click a custom product field it will not automatically insert the code into your template and show up on your page. But if your working in the point and click it will.

                        Start with the point and click mode and see if it shows up. From there you can copy the sniplet of code that is displaying the custom field and use it in the advanced mode.

                          Gary,

                          Mine was in advance mode and I do have the code there so that's not the problem. One thing I did try base on your comment was I copy all my advance code into notepad. Then I switch over to point and click mode, disabled the custom field, then enabled it. Switch over to advance mode and paste my code back. It works...

                          This is a really weird one but glad it's resolved.

                          Thank you everyone who take the time to comments

                            Re: custom product field on category

                            I've got a unique situation - I am trying to display custom product fields on sub-category screen. I've used the Sebenza Category Page Template to build a QUICKADD and it already can display products from the sub-sub category (sub_category2 with a creative usage of the Toolkit). I thought I could get the custom product field to pull in using the Toolkit.

                            Code:
                             <mvt:item name="toolkit" param="custom|studio|l.all_settings:item:sub_product_id|sample" /><mvt:if expr="g.studio">
                            Sample: &mvte:global:studio;
                            </mvt:if>

                            sub_product is used to pull in all the other product data to the page, so I assumed it would work too. Yes. I've made sure the custom product field is assigned to the CTGY template as mentioned by Bruce. Also when I look at the entities assigned to the page, I'm not seeing any of the custom product fields. Thoughts? Leslie
