Import Excel file into Miva 5.5

I want to export my quickbooks products into an excel file and then import them into MIVA 5.5
Do I need to remove all the quickbooks columns that are not applicable to MIVA?
Do the columns need to be in a particular order?
What do I do about attributes?
Will I need any plugins to do this?
I also have word press if that would be a better way to do this.
Thank you in advance for any guidance.

Re: Import Excel file into Miva 5.5

I was able to accomplish this. I went to my MIVA help files and printed out the instructions. I exported my quickbooks product files to Excel. I edited them, added SKUs and assigned categories and then saved as text-tab delimited. You have to set up the categories that you are adding in MIVA BEFORE you import the products. (Make sure you label the products with the correct category codes) Then I went to utilities at the bottom of the menubar in Miva and went to import . import products from a flat file. I used the default settings but you can change whether you want to overwrite existing or just import new items. I did not need to remove the columns from quickbooks but I did anyway because you only get the first 10 columns when you import the file. I went in after importing and put in the image files and copied and pasted descriptions and attributes. It was tedious. I purchased attribute export and import from Emporium Plus but it seemed too much trouble to deal with...if I had time to work with it, it might save some time. I would suggest that you import only a small number of products the first time to be sure you have your columns labeled correctly and that everything looks right in MIVA. I am still working on it because there are hundreds of products. I am importing one or two categories at a time and entering descriptions and images before I import more.
