    Migration to new server

I will be migrating from one server to another where I'll have new IP addresses. I have the following Miva Merchant configuration:

    Miva Merchant 5.5
    PR8 Update 3
    Miva Merchant Engine v5.12
    Database API: mysql

I'll be able to migrate all the databases and site files to the new server using the Plesk Migration Manager. I'll have to manually move the Miva Empresa Engine and Merchant data and libraries (since Plesk doesn't move anything installed outside itself).

My main concern is with IP addresses and anything that Miva Merchant configured behind the scenes during initial installation that I am not privy to... What do I need to be aware of for migrations?

Besides updating the 2 IP addresses in my merchdb.dat file, do I need to manually change the IP addresses inside the databases anywhere?

    Re: Migration to new server

Not knowing how your previous server was setup you might need to check that you have moved the following:

    - miva builtin libraries - often in /usr/local/miva - your miva.conf or SetEnv directives within apache's httpd.conf file will tell you where
    - miva auth file (if you've got a 3.x install)
    - miva cert folder
    - miva mm5 directory (within your website - plesk is probably moving this)
    - miva mivadata directory (may be within your website or in a non-web accessible directory in your home directory
    - miva empresa engine - usually called mivavm
    - mivavm.conf file (3.x install) - could be in cgi-bin
    - apache config - a bunch of SetEnv directives within your apache httpd.conf file - must be transferred.
    - the miva mysql database - best to do an sql dump and then upload to the new database. If you're using mivasql this is not necessary.

    Good Luck

    - be sure to check that the mailserver location in the domain settings and DB location in ./mivadata/merch.dat are correct

      Re: Migration to new server

Thanks for the reminder on all of that stuff. A big concern is passing everything on the PA-DSS Checklist (which I pass on my current server) under Domain Settings > PA-DSS Checklist, like:
      • Private Key Database on Different Server Than Primary Database
      • Primary Database not Located on Web Server
How does Miva Merchant know those IP addresses if their values aren't stored within the database? I remember when I first did a fresh install of PR7 (before the upgrade to PR8) -- the installation process asked me for those IP addresses (I think). But, since I won't be running a new installation of PR7 on the new server (I'll just be migrating databases and files), how will Miva get the NEW IP address values?

Look in the file ./mivadata/merchdb.dat in your miva data directory. It gives the location of your mysql database. Typically the private key database in stored in a 'mivasql' database in your mivadata directory. As long as the primary database is stored on another server you'll pass PA-DSS.

          Re: Migration to new server

That's what I thought. So, there's no IP addresses listed within the databases themselves. That's the important bit of information I needed to know.
