Retail and Wholesale Tracking at Attribute Level

I've been scouring various threads and am having trouble locating a definitive solution for combining Retail and Wholesale orders, at an attribute level, via the same store. I tried setting up Availability and Price groups, but this method doesn't appear to support tracking inventory at the attribute level.

The upshot is that I want to be able to better manage real-time product availability between wholesale and retail orders without having to manually adjust the inventory for each.

I see there is a MM5 Wholesale Pricing module. Will this do what I want?

Maybe I don't understand your question, but price groups do change the price of attributes. See the product at https://www.emporiumplus.com/BOGUS.html Look at the different prices for each attribute - option combination. Then login or create an account at the Account tab. Then go back to the https://www.emporiumplus.com/BOGUS.html product and note the price displayed and how it varies based on the options selected. As you can see from the display, it also tracks variant inventory.

Re: Retail and Wholesale Tracking at Attribute Level

That's good news that it can work, BUT it doesn't seem to work for me on my site. Here is what I've done:
      1. Assigned inventory at the attribute level for products. Attribute variants are configured to "sum of parts" (all attributes have same price).
      2. Created a price group 'wholesale" that uses the "cost" field to display WS price.
      3. Assigned myself as a "customer" in the price group and added products to be affected.

Testing the above out, any products tracked at the attribute level do not show the adjusted WS price. Products not tracked at the attribute level do. I had researched this and found a site saying that Price Groups do not work at the attribute level ( I can't find that reference now) - hence my post here .

I should note that, in addition to my needing the above mentioned scenario, I also want to include Availability Groups so that wholesale accts have access to products that are not yet available to the retail customer.

First, I need to get this system to work. Then, if a module, such as the one I posted at the top of this thread, helps maintain the accts I would be interested to find out from users what works best.

      Thanks!

I'm sure the built in price groups will handle attributes at the variant products discounting. That said, the example I gave you is using my Price Group Manager module to extend the price group capabilities of a store. http://www.emporiumplus.com/1AA00226.html

          godogo,

I can answer directly about the wholesale pricing module. WP doesn't interact with inventory control. WP doesn't supply a function for attribute pricing at the attribute level. MM5.5 PR8 does handle inventory counts and tracking at the attribute level. Rick Wilson put together a video tutorial on how it works. I'll post the link if I can find it. It really isn't difficult to set up, but the concept is a little different.

That Price Group manager By Emporium Plus was something I looked at and am considering, so I'm glad you mentioned it here. I'll explore a little deeper to see how that works.

              Thank you for clarifying this!

If you can find the video link I would appreciate it!

If THIS video is what you meant, that setup is precisely how I set up my store, but it doesn't address the Price Group issue I am having.

Re: Retail and Wholesale Tracking at Attribute Level

Ok. For some reason I can get it to work now. I'm not sure if I'm out of the woods yet, but for the moment my product inventory is behaving properly at the attribute level. I can't explain why it's working now when it wasn't before. It might be something completely unrelated, like a account login misconfiguration between pages (i.e. maybe the product page wasn't displaying as a logged-in customer).

I'm still going to look into the above mentioned modules. They look like they might be beneficial.

                  Thanks for all your help!

Re: Retail and Wholesale Tracking at Attribute Level

For posterity, here are the video links that are very helpful IMO regarding the inventory concepts.

This is a tutorial on building kits in Miva Merchant 5.5 PR7, where the sub products of the kit only have one attribute.

This is the content from our webinar held on Friday June 4, 2010. In this webinar we cover upgrading to PR7 and how to add Inventory at the Attribute Level to an existing store.

side-note: I have not tested any scenario regarding kits and variants with WP as of yet. If I could only find the time.

Is there any way to generate inventory REPORTS at the attribute level? Looking around it seems that we can't.

Re: Retail and Wholesale Tracking at Attribute Level

                        Hi,

I am working on a miva 5 store that uses inventory variant pricing only.
Is it possible to show both the regular price AND the wholesale price if a wholesaler (i.e. price group) is logged in?

*i.e. The items in this store are also available to regular (non-price grouped) customers who would see the normal inventory variant prices.
We allow price grouped/wholesale customers who get a 52% discount on any product.

                        Thanks in advance.
