Inventory Quantity Limit & Discount code

I would like to sell an item that I only have 15 in inventory. I have watched the videos on how to do limited inventory that were created by Miva but it does not seem to work. When I test the product it does not limit me to only a quantity of 15, it lets me order a quantity of 100. Is there something that I have done wrong?
Also I would like to add a discount code for my select customers. How would I approach this so that my customers can use this code at checkout?

Can't help you with inventory but I highly recommend the Coupon Redemption Module from Emporium Plus. It offers Checkout Coupons and a myriad of options and related features. They just added a Points program that might help to incentivize your "Select" customers.

Assuming inventory is on for the store you can set the individual product setting as well

Track Product inventory, track out of stock, hide out of stock should all be set at yes.
