access variant product information (or inactive products)

Hello,

I am trying to retrieve a variant product's full image. I have attached one in the un-categorized section of products. I have toolkit and I have tried vproduct_find, but it will only return information for active products. I would like to be able to get the images attached to the attribute variances and display them in a custom manner outside of the form and current javascript framework. Any suggestions on how to do this with toolkit or another module?
