    Re: Horizontal Cat Tree

I have come acress a baffling problem related to the horizontal cattree. First, it works perfectly in Firefox, my normal browser. But then I checked to see how it did in Internet Explorer. Most of the screens work correctly, but on a CTGY screen, I have a limited catree that displays subcategories from only one of the top level categories. After clicking on one of these links, the dropdown no longer works. But strangely, if I click on a product and go into the PROD page, then the dropdown comes back. This happens only in IE, not Firefox. So I am confused what to check, or how. Does this description suggest anything to you?

Ron is that nav SEO friendly. May have changed, yet i always heard if you cant copy the text in the links, it cant be read by the bots.

        Re: Horizontal Cat Tree

An update: I checked the site that I am working on, with the horizontal cattree and dropdown menus, with Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and Safari browsers as well as Internet Explorer 9.0. All browsers did the cattree and dropdowns correctly on all pages EXCEPT Internet Explorer. So Ron, or anyone else, is there a work-around for this problem with IE? I do not normally use IE, so are there some add-ons that IE needs? Since IE is so popular, I think I need to address the problem some way.

          Hey Dan,

I can't see why it wouldn't be seo friendly. It's just an unordered list styled with css. Do you see any issues when looking at the source code? I've never heard this before... More info?

The main thing I don't like, seo wise, is that all of the navigation links come before the main content. It's much better to have a left nav and have it located below the main content in the source code. I've seen that this does make a difference.

Not sure Ron.. I was always lead to believe that if you cant copy and paste the link being displayed its not SEO friendly. That may not be true anymore, but I thought id toss that out there. Perhaps an SEO guru will swing by for the answer.
