Customer paid with Discover Card, but I don't offer Discover.

My billing department came to me and said, "Oh no, someone paid with Discover!" I checked in the Miva admin, and Discover is still un-checked, as it should be. So how was this customer able get through the checkout with Discover? I use First Data (formerly LinkPoint) gateway.

    Thanks for any help.

because the payment module you are using doesn't really check the card selected verses the number entered. however, YOUR gateway should have rejected it...unless its cool with them, and then you may not really care. Check your gateway settings and see if you are set to allow all cards or if you can restrict the cards accepted.

Oh, and Rick mentioned that either an upcoming release or the current new release will make this check internally (which, I hope they allow use to bypass as we frequently don't ask for a CC card, just the number and don't want to be doing JS sniffing to set the card type value<g>).

      Hi Doug.

Love your tagline since I feel the same way. Also, your company name is vaguely familiar. :-)

Sorry, can't help really you with the Discover issue. All I can think of is if you are using Simple Validation that the customer entered the Discover number and the system didn't catch it.

Nice site. Can I ask how you do the slide show on this page:

      Have a great one!

I figured it was something like this. Yeah, my book keeper didn't accept (and therefore notice) the payment until after the product shipped. So, we let it slide.

This site is a pretty handy tool for slideshows. Just enter a few pieces of information, and it gives you the code.

For what it is worth, you might look into accepting discover.

My cc processor / gateway lets me take discover at the same rates as Visa and MC.

Hopoe this helps. Every little advantage helps in todays business climate.
