Fedex update in PR8 update 5

Just installed update 5 and read what is fixed with Fedex. Am I correct in my assumption that Legacy Fedex still needs to be activated? I attempted to check-mark Home Delivery under the webservices and it is not showing up as a shipping option unless I have Legacy still activated. Is this a problem or is this the way it is supposed to work?

No, Legacy FedEx needs to be deactivated. This new module fully replaces the old module.

If I deactivate Fedex Legacy, Home Delivery does not show up as an option even though I have checkmarked it in the Fedex shipping options. Only two of the 3 options are available for the customer. I have used various shipping addresses where Fedex Home Delivery is available and still no option.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue. I don't want to select Fedex Ground because the rates are very different than Home Delivery.

Is there a pdf document available yet for this update? Still having the problem. Have to have Legacy activated for Home Delivery to show up.

No, Legacy FedEx needs to be deactivated. This new module fully replaces the old module.

Yes our documentation was updated yesterday with the new FedEx module. It's on our site under Support -> Documentation -> PR8 Reference Manual.

I've asked support to jump in and help you on this thread.

Nope, neither address I used was a business address. Residential both times.

When a customer fills out their shipping address information, if any value is entered for the Company field, the FedEx Home Delivery shipping method will not appear in the shipping method drop-down list.

I just stepped through an order on your site and I have FedEx Home as an option that is coming from the new module, mvfedexsoap:GROUND_HOME_DELIVERY

Okay, thanks everyone. That makes perfect sense. So this new module is very sensitive to the fact that even though a business name is entered but in a residential area, the Home Delivery option will not show up. Not really sure if that is good, because Ground Delivery is cheaper than Home Delivery and if a company address is entered but it is a residential delivery, the shipping charges aren't going to be accurate.

I agree with Miss Kate....I've had orders from people who fill the company field and are working out of their home. There should be a way to override this because fedex still charges the residential rate.

Also, have a few other questions about the fedex mod.
-For free shipping how would you exclude Hawaii and Alaska?? Would it be in shipping rules, how do i use the geographic restrictions option?

-I know you can charge handling but is there anyway to add an additional handling charges based products ordered, or different charges based on the service selected? I have some frozen items that require ice packs so i add the additional costs to the handling fee.

+1 for adding an option to exclude the Company field for the Fedex module. Until the module is updated to verify that the address is actually a commercial address, it makes sense to default the rate to Home Delivery (residential) regardless of the company field.

We have customers who put in a company name and have a residential address. We even have quite a few customers who put "None" in the company field name and of course are shipping to a residence. Due to this, we have had to deactivate the commercial rate option.
