Re: Gift Certificate Modules - Who's Got One And...
I used to use the viking coders module back on my merchant 4 site.
Seemed to work ok. I didn't get one when I upgraded to 5.5 because I just couldn't get enough people to buy gift certificates (not a knock against the module, just bad marketing on my part, I suppose).
Are there specific features you want from the gift certificate module?
I would look closely into the support policies for both of these moduels BEFORE making a decision. Personally, I will hold off on buying a gift certificate module until www.emporiumplus.com comes out with one - which might be a LLLOOONNNGGG time.
Re: Gift Certificate Modules - Who's Got One And...
Gift Certificate modules are pretty complex, and their maintenance time consuming, which is why, devoid of a fee based support policy, it might make other developers pause before spending the time to create, then support, this type of functionality.
Re: Gift Certificate Modules - Who's Got One And...
Any other Sebenza reviews? We've been using Viking Coders but need to switch since they're not allowing us to purchase the two remaining stand-alone licenses we need to finish our new stores.
Re: Gift Certificate Modules - Who's Got One And...
FYI: The vast majority of sites we've worked with, that have a Gift Certificate module, seldom, if every use it--at least as a actual Gift Certificate module. In most cases, a coupon module would work for the other reasons that the module is used for.
Re: Gift Certificate Modules - Who's Got One And...
Generally speaking I would agree with Bruce. The reason we're adding it is to be able to support real world gift cards (via credit card networks) which also supports true split payment.
It's going to be a fairly "advanced" feature that I see primarily applying to the Enterprise space.
