Power Search Relevancy Question

I have added a whole line of auto/car & truck mats. If I go on my site and seach "car mats" I want these new products to show up at the top of the list. Instead I get a lot of other irrevelant products. How can I fix that?

When you run the power search rebuild, which fields are you listing for the FULLTEXT index? For example name,descrip

Are you including either a hidden input or a checkbox input, e.g.
<input type="hidden" name="psrelevance" value="name,descrip">

If yes to both, MySQL will search those two fields (or whatever your included in the FULLTEXT index) for relevant words. The rule on search is it ignores common words or words that are 3 or less characters. It would ignore the word "car" and maybe even "mats" since is may see that as a 3 letter word but plural. I don't know that for sure. Then it takes the words it allows and weighs them within the whole text of the record. If you search for something like Mercedes, it would compare the percent of the words that are Mercedes. So in a 10 word description and the word once, it would be 10%. But if you have a 1000 word description and it only appears once, that 10 word would rank higher. That is a simplified explanation; it is much more complex. You can read about MySQL fulltext searches in Google. It is not a Power Search logic. Power Search simply includes it as one of your search options.
