PAGES and Content Question

I'm wanting to create content in order to drive traffic to my website. What is the best way to go about this? Use the Create "PAGES" in Miva to create Pages with content on them? I've started to do this. My site sells musical instruments so I am creating Pages with resources on them (ex: rhythm patterns, music lessons, parent resources, etc.).
I've notice a lot of "landing pages" for other websites use an .html page. Should I just create a bunch of .html pages with links to my site and upload them or is using the Miva Pages for this essentially the same thing?

Also - The pages I created are loading extra slowly. Maybe I'm associating the wrong "ITEMS" or too many "ITEMS". I can't quite figure why they are loading so slowly.

Hi Gary,

Are you using the built in SEO Settings Short links? These would give you the .html extensions for your Pages.

Can you post a link to one of the slow loaders so it can be looked at?

ya got issues...

mostly typical...can't find the favicon file, thumbnails that are 50K in size (should be about 3k), inline styles (should be in style sheet)...etc., however, when running Merchant.mvc through an analyer, i'm seeing between 20 and 40 SECONDS just to "first byte"...i think you need to talk with your host as something is not right (and not saying its the host, but between you, your site and your server, someones bitching and not working<g>).

Wordpress would be my first choice for this.

There are so many plugins for wordpress that will allow you to do so many things that you CAN'T do by creating "information pages" in miva (without doing some hardcore coding).

Oh, by the way, Howdy, neighbor. Just realized you are up in Novato. We are just down the road in San Rafael...

Took a quick look at your site, and just had a few small suggestions:

Because it is a site for parents of kids, maybe if in your header you could have some small shots of smiling kids playing musical instruments?

Also maybe use some more kid-friendly colors?

also, you might want to be a little more consistent with your link colors. For instance, your email link is a medium blue color, while the link for See Make a Drum is red.

WordPress is great - just make sure you keep it up to date. Check with your host to also make sure you are on a server with the latest version of PHP or you may have to jump through a few hoops with the host (depending upon who it is).

Also keep up with updates for PCI also... Wordpress causes almost all the fails via scans. some plugins are the cause,. update, still.. Allot you will cease to be able to use. PCI stuff a mess anyways, and Wordpress plugins make it even worse. Not saying not use them, just be ready for thigns that work and dont work come scan times.

Thanks for your suggestions! I am presently redesigning my site with CSS miva store front. The present one is a mixture of old and new.
