Re: First Data Global Gateway E4

They are saying that they are only using E4 and SIM. I could not get an answer as to whether this was because of the requirement of a hosted checkout page. They did tell me they support PayFlow Link and Payflow Pro. I may try to use PayFlow Pro.

They can probably sign you up for either directly, but we have good rates on PayFlow both Link and Pro, so let me know if you need any assistance.

I'm reaching out to my contact at BofA to find out if this is in fact their new policy (that they try and force people through Hosted Checkout pages) and I'll let you know what I find out.

Thanks Rick. I will be interested in BofA's response. I may have to pursue the PayFlow option because we are anxious to move forward.

For historical reference (and because I know Rick can't really say this):

Its somewhat sad in this day and age, but Banks, Processors and Gateways in general, have no idea of what they are talking about when it comes to the integration side of eCommerce. You are always better off to go directly to MivaMerchant or a developer partner to get set up. Usually this also means you'll get a better deal because they steer you away from "additional" services you may not need.

Re: First Data Global Gateway E4

            Julie,

I just spoke with the team at BofA and have a formal update.

            1. You are correct they are no longer selling new customers on the First Data Global Gateway (which we just re-wrote last year) but are still going to support all of the customers who already have it for the foreseeable future.

This is the first I've formally learned of this, which is frustrating since we're a First Data Reseller, so I need to really think through our plan in regards to that gateway. At first blush, it's not a particularly popular gateway from a usage standpoint, so at this point we will not be rushing to integrate E4.

We will likely update to support E4 in a couple years, depending on demand and other market pressures.

            2. You were incorrectly informed about Authorize.net.

BofA does NOT require you to use Authorize.net's SIM platform, you can use any of their 3 platforms, AIM (which is what we support), CIM or SIM. Both Authorize.net and BofA have confirmed this for me.

BofA is a reseller of Auth.net, so if you want integrated billing, they can sell this to you. Otherwise you can buy it directly from Auth.net (or from someone like us) and just point it to your BofA merchant account.

            3. You were correctly informed that they also support both PayFlow Link and PayFlow Pro. They do not resell those, so you'll need to sign up directly with PayPal for those services or through a reseller like us.

Feel free to pick this up via email, but I wanted to post here for posterity.
            Thanks,

Hi Rick, thanks for the forum posting. I'm sure I'm not the only one who was curious to find out the resolution on this.
