I am very unhappy with Viking Coders - USPS Advanced. Is there a better module out there? Or is there a way to require insurance on the MIVA version?

Re: is there a good way to get USPS + insurance.
Insurance is kind of a funny thing. USPS only pays for replacement cost, not full value. So if you are selling an item that retails for $50.00, but cost is only $25.00 then USPS will only pay you for the $25.00, not for the full amount of the items.
Now most shipments priority come with $80 - $100.00 automatic coverage without purchasing any additional insurance. So, if you are selling an item that retails for 189.00, but your cost is $80.00, you probably don't need to add any additional insurance to the package.
Placing an additional cost or purchasing extra insurance will cost you more money, and if the package is valued at under $80.00 then you are just wasting your money. Even if you purchase double insurance, you only get paid once for the value of the item and it will still take up to 6 months for the Post Office to refund you for your claim....that's if you can fight with them enough times to finally get them to crack open their safe to give you a payment.
