    Inventory variant questions

We do not track inventory in Miva. Some of our products are special order. Even if we (ourselves) are out of stock, we can source from somewhere or offer an equivalent solution.

I think inventory variants is the solution to what I want to do. But I have several questions.
    a) In the T shirt example where you have colors blue and white, and sizes small, medium large - is it possible to have the whole construct be repeated for different products with different prices? By this I mean - I have a golf shirt in those colors and sizes, and a crew neck shirt in those colors and sizes. The only thing different between the golf shirt and the crew neck is the price (I don't need to show shirt in many colors).
    2) Is it possible to fake Miva so that Store inventory is turned on, but it does not affect the add to basket button, or any other features?
    3) If not possible to fake system, is it possible to keep inventory falsely high on a regular basis (automated so depletion is replenished)
    4) If a particular color is not available any more in one type of item, if the inventory for it is turned to zero, will it NOT show up in choices?

    Thanks
    Sam

    Re: Inventory variant questions

Yes you can do all of that with Variants.

I think all of that is covered in the reference guide www.mivamerchant.com/referenceguide

      Re: Inventory variant questions

I looked through the reference guide.

I want to use variants and kits, but not track inventory.

      Here is my understanding
      a) If I turn inventory on, and the inventory on some item goes to zero - it will not show or not allow add to basket, UNLESS I go into the template pages and remove the conditional that checks for inventory. If there is some other control that I have not found please let me know.
      b) Inventory variants will not show if inventory goes to zero for some item.

I have not found a way to keep inventory artificially and consistently high. Could someone point me to a trick to do that?

      Thanks
      Sam

        Sam,

        No it's not that hard.

Instead of A, just simply click Inventory in the left hand navigation and then uncheck Track Out Of Stock Level and Hide Out Of Stock Products.

This will allow your inventory to be negative and still have the rest of the features work just fine.
        Thanks,
