Changing to CSSUI but URLs are MMUI style – Advice please

I have a live MMUI with CSS MIVA store with short URLs enabled. I also have a mydomain.php site where my products link to store.mydomain.com site with ORDER buttons. My goal is to get the MIVA site perfected and take down the mydomain.com site, then rename the miva site to mydomain.com
In my store.MYDOMAIN MIVA site the URL for a product display looks like this:
I had my host set up a dev site in CSSUI
They set it up so the URL looks the same as above
The code in a CSSUI Miva site does not look like the code above. It is much simpler and shorter.
If I keep the same URLs that I have in the MMUI with CSS live store - I am worried that the search engines will not find my products because of the store code and the overly long URLs.
IF I change completely to the new URL structure in a CSSUI MIVA store, will I have to 301 redirect every product or just every category and page? Has anyone done this and what were the consequences with search engines?

You can implement a few global rewrite rules that will 301 redirect all category and product pages from the old url to the new (shorter) url.

    This thread should help
