please allow admin searching for customer to include custom fields

Since we can select a custom field now, and have it display on the results list for the customers admin area.
I expected that I could search for the contents of a custom field. It doesn't work even if I put in exact match text.
The custom field is ignored in the admin when looking up a customer.

Please add this to the next update, or patch, please, please, please!

I assume you know there is already a search form in the tool kit admin screen for custom customer field data. For example you can search on customers with greater than 1000 in a custom field called order total, sorted descending on that field, to list your best customers. Course you would be populating that custom field each time an order was placed.

Re: please allow admin searching for customer to include custom fields

Yes Bill I Do, but I don't want to give employees access to every part of the store. For security, they only have access to the things they need to do their jobs. If I give them access to the utilities, then they can do a lot of damage and get to data they should not get to. Our shop is PCI compliant, it makes for a headache at times.

When customer sign up, they don't have to fill in all the address stuff. But ours is a wholesale store, so they have to fill in business name and tax id. We have them fax or mail us their verification information and we have to match that to the account they created. So we need to look up their accounts by tax id or business name which are custom fields. Then in yet another custom customer field we put a YES once we got their info. Then they can go shopping after YES occurs. It's just hard to look them up when they don't remember to send in the login or login email address they used to sign up with. They often just fax their forms and federal/state taxid papers.

Is there a way to make a new admin page with your toolkit?
Then I could make an admin page search tool for them that would use toolkit to do the lifting.
Would be nice if we could do this for the admin.

There would be no way to assign permissions to the admin group for just one utility module. Even if there were, the search forms in tool kit are among several other forms. So limiting to just that one search form would require even further permission assignment.

Yep, that is why Miva should fix this in the customer admin area of the store. If we can't search by those fields, then those fields shouldn't be shown there enticing us to think it would work.
