import/export image machine product image type

    Hi,

I'm using image machine and am very please with what it can do. I'm working on a site using image machine for all the pages (no legacy images).

Is there a way to import and export the image machine images/image types of a product along with all the other product details? My client is going to have 1000s of product and a neat spreadsheet would be the best for loading product info.

I've searched for a solution, hopefully there is one.

    Thanks.

I have the same question too.
I'm using the provision.xml method of importing the product info (lots of good stuff already outlining this in the forum).
    BUT, my question is:
Is it possible to put the images in a temporary folder (Like the privatedata import folder),
list the product image machine images in the provision.xml using the correct tags,
have Miva grab the images and put them where they are supposed to live permanently in the correct store graphics folder?

Reason I ask is because I"m taking a subset of products from another site and moving them to this new site. I don't need 10GB of images of products that won't exist on the new site. But trying to find them all and hand copy them over sounds like a nightmare.

I would imaging you could just go to the Global Settings/site configuration and change the root directory for graphics... but you may need to put all graphics (not just product) in this directory.

Still trying to figure out how to do the import for image machine images? Any tips?

Yes, you can import additional images via a spreadsheet. Here are the steps:

          1. Turn on "Product Image Custom Fields" under utilities. This allows image types to be imported and exported.
          2. Create an image type. We typically create an image type of "main" for the default image.
          3. Add an image to a product via the admin and assign it the type of main. Then go under utilities and go into export data and export products. Make sure under the custom fields section you select to export the image type you just created. This export file will give you the header name will need to import your images. It will look something like this: IMAGE_TYPE:_MAIN where "MAIN" is the image type you created.
          4. FTP all your images you wish to upload to Miva. The location does not matter, but typically product images are uploaded to the graphics/00000001/ folder. The images MUST exists on the server for the import to work.
          5. Create a spreadsheet that contains two columns (It can have more, but you need at least these two) PRODUCT_CODE and IMAGE_TYPE:_MAIN. The first column is the product code and the second is the path to the image along with the name. Example:
          graphics/00000001/myimage.jpg
          6. Under utilities, import your spreadsheet using the Product Import feature.

If things were successful, you should see your additional images appear under each product.
