It does include Dev stores, since in many cases Dev stores are the biggest security threat since people don't think about hardening them.

      Makes perfect sense Rick.

I'd like to add my 2 cents about this, since within the past 30 days I have had to deal with two accounts within my own household that have been compromised. I know everything to look for but it still happens. I also know that it is expensive to protect sensitive information online. Any PC I own has more than one for of scan/protection going on in the background. My Mac's also are protected. These applications have fees attached to them, just like all the protection that Miva Merchant has to provide to keep all the data stored on their servers safe.

I also know that it's not easy trying to keep multiple versions of a platform up to date. Hackers are getting into everything and trying to keep two steps ahead of them get more expensive everyday. Just look at what Target is going through. So I figure making sure software is up to date, is a lot cheaper than what could happen.

On the latest update note, WordPress now updates automatically, which is probably their attempt to patch security holes, however, any customized WP site now has the potential of breaking. WP updates should be done in order, eg. Plugins first, etc. if you need help disabling the upgrade automation, feel free to contact us.

I hadn't realized WP began doing that, that's interesting.

For the record I don't foresee a future where we choose to do that, considering there's always a chance upgrades can have issues (even though we've worked very hard in the last 4 years to eliminate that risk), I think for something as mission critical as ecommerce it's always important to have someone watching the system as it updates.
          Thanks,

LOL - I had a client forward me the email that WP sent out after the update, asking me if it was legit.

Rick I understand your concerns about auto-updating - I must give you and your team huge props (at least when it comes to the stores I run the updates on) - the "update broke my store" risk is down considerably. My fear of clicking the update button is almost existent.
