    PayPal Buy It Now Banner

We have found that when we add the Bill Me Later banner to our website, the image is loading from a non-secure server. This is causing the browser to throw up warnings when displayed on our secure pages. Is there a solution to this outside of us storing the image on our server? It seems odd to me that a payment solution's advertisement would not work on a secure page since this is where it's most likely to be displayed. This makes me think I'm missing something rather simple.

It should actually be pulling from https: source. At least that's what it does on about 5 other sites when using their javascript call.

I agree, but unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case for me. Any idea why it wouldn't work properly? The script was simply cut & paste from their website as instructed.

Can you give me an example site that works properly, so I can take a look.

      Thanks,
      Paul

Yeah, something doesn't add up here as all PayPal banners and buttons I know of are setup to fire via https by default. Just to clarify, you said Buy It Now banner, you referring to Bill Me Later, or something else?

Sorry. Yes, I meant Bill Me Later. Usually, they detect what type of page they're on a fire appropriately. Or, you have to build logic into the page's code to pull the correct image.

              Check this page: https://www.phosphormedia.com/mm5/me...de=pm_edit_css

You'll find this image being sourced from a non-secure server:
              http://upstream.where.com/mds/imp?addeviceid=..........................

This throws a warning (exclamation point instead of the secure padlock) when viewed in FF. At first glance, I thought it was the actual banner image, but upon reexamination, it looks to be some sort of tracking pixel that gets loaded along with the banner.

                Hey Paul,

Able to reproduce on my end as well. Definitely something new and very concerning as these banners have been installed on a number of stores up to this point. We have a good contact at PayPal, let me see if I can get some answers. In the meantime, you could probably hard code the banner display, changing the tracking pixel url to use https.

PayPal states the issue has been resolved. (thank you) I performed a test via one of our dev environments using a fresh Bill Me Later banner and it appears to be switching between http and https as necessary. Checked your site too Bruce and it looks to be working there as well after clearing the cache.

Thanks for looking into this. I went round and round with PayPal for 2 full days and all they would tell me was to read the installation instructions.
