Customer location based shipping - How do I set it up

I feel like this should be pretty easy to do but I'm not sure if PR8 can do it without a module or not. My client wants two shipping options but only one should appear based on the customers shipping address (and I'm pretty sure they ship UPS specifically).

    UPS Shipping within U.S. - $20
    UPS Shipping outside U.S. - $100

They sell very small/lite items so they don't care about weight or the size of the page. So if the customer is in the U.S. they would only see the option for $25 shipping, and if they are outside the U.S. they would only see the $50 option. That's what I want to do.

Any help would be great, thx in advance!

You can restrict individual methods by location using the built-in Shipping Rules. You can find this by expanding the + next to Shipping Settings in the lefthand admin menu and then selecting Shipping Rules under that. You will then see a Shipping Method Rules tab where you can modify each method and select which countries should be able to see each method.

This information is available in the official reference guide, along with all other features available in the admin: http://www.mivamerchant.com/referenceguide

Does that net the functionality you're looking for?

Thanks Kyle, I'll give that a try tonight... however my client just asked that domestic be UPS and International be FedEx. Is that still possible within the built in rules?

Yup, this should work for any shipping methods you end up choosing.

Keep in mind stock UPS and FedEx will not display together.

I think that's okay cause only one option should ever show.

I'm using Flat Rate shipping right now. Do I have to remove those to get this to work, or do I need them? I'm trying to figure this out by reading the documentation but so far I haven't gotten it to work.

I don't think I need to activate UPS(R) Online Tools or FedEx Web Services since my client wants their own static pricing. However that was before I activated UPS(R) Online Tools so I unassigned it and I got this alert...

"Module 'UPS(R) Online Tools' is in use by one or more Store Morph items.
The store has been configured not to allow removal of modules use by Store Morph Items.
Below is a list of the Items that reference Module 'UPS(R) Online Tools' and the pages in which they are referenced:
              Item: 'ups':
              OSEL
              OPAY
              INVC"

So I went into the three pages (OSEL, OPAY, and INVC), clicked on Items, unassigned UPS and updated each page. Then when I went back to the main shipping page in Miva to turn off UPS I got the same error as above but it said this...

Not currently assigned to any pages."

So how do I remove UPS?

You need to delete the page item as well before unassigning under Shipping Settings.

Hey, that did it! I didn't realize you had to fully deleted. Thanks!

Now to configure the Shipping Rules to show 'option A' for International customers and 'option B' for continental U.S. customers.
