Buy X and get Free Shipping

Does anyone have a solution for Buy X and get Free Shipping. I was thinking I could do this with the Sort Shipping Plus Free Shipping Option module, but hit the caveat

This exception would be used if you are running some sort of special, i.e. buy product X and your entire order ships free.

Putting all the eligible products in the "When Order Contains Only These Product Codes Customer Gets Free Shipping" is out of the question (and may run up against a character limit).

Using a Coupon presents the same problems, as a number of products cannot be included in the offer.

So ideally what is needed is the ability to have one specific product ordered trigger free shipping but if any of the "restricted" products are ordered too, it cancels the Free Shipping.

Hey Leslie,

This is a convoluted solution, but I've had to use it and it works. For example; having different flat rate options for different product categories.

Create a new Free Shipping method. Then using the product level Shipping rules you can exclude it from each product it doesn't apply to by using Limit Shipping Methods. You'll really only need to manually edit one item, then export, copy the fields down, import via csv.

This way if they have items in the cart the Free Shipping doesn't apply to, it won't be offered.

Simple, if you're not already using the product level shipping rules, sort of.
