PayPal Express SOAP Timeout Error

Good Afternoon,

We have had quite a few customers complain lately that when they tried to checkout with PayPal they were redirected back to the beginning of our checkout processes. Sure enough when I tested it out, I was redirected back to the beginning with the following PayPal error...

Paypal Express Checkout Error: Network error: SOAP Fault: SOAP-ENV:Client: Timeout processing request (-3)

When I refreshed the page, I was able to continue on the checkout process. I tested it multiple times with multiple browsers and experienced this problem randomly, sometimes it worked fine.

Has anyone else experienced this?

We are experiencing an issue which is affecting Express Checkout on the PayPal Live Site. Some PayPal Merchants may be experiencing a higher than usual error rate for:
10001 Error - Internal Error.

Some PayPal users may encounter errors during checkout when using bank as funding source.

Our technical teams have been engaged and are actively troubleshooting the issue.

PayPal said it was resolved a few hours ago. Still seeing the same issue?

We're trying to get a hold of someone at PayPal to pass this on since they seemed sure the issue had been resolved.

PayPal is still looking into this.


Update 3: Our engineers have identified the root cause of the issue affecting GetExpressCheckoutDetails intermittently not returning a response.

They are continuing to work on a resolution. We will provide an update once we have additional information.

Thanks, appreciate the update. Issue still exists as of a couple of minutes ago with our testing. Things were extremely erratic last night.

PayPal just emailed that they believe they have this fixed now (2:40pm EST)

It appears to be fixed on our end now.
