adding additional field to SimpleSearch fuction

Hi,

Bill helped implemented a mobile site a while back and I just realized my mobile search results and desktop resulst are different. After looking through the code, I am missing the metatag keyword field for mobile. Does anyone know the syntax for that field within simplesearch function? This is what I have

The simplesearch does not include meta tags. Take a look at the tool kit doc and example.

The 4th parameter is the primary product fields you want searchable. In the example, it is search the 3 most important fields. The 5th parameter is for searching the custom product fields. In the example here, it is searching actors and circa. You can determine your custom product fields available by going to the utiliities > custom fields tab and viewing the list that are type = "product". The meta tags are not in that list.

I am assuming you are using power search in your desktop view for searching. It does search meta tags which are built into the power search mirror. If you want to use power search in the mobile view, you simply replace the simplesearch token with the required power search tokens into the mobile tab. You will also need to point the mobile search to the SRCH page instead of the PLSTS page. If you look at Emporium Plus via mobile you will see it has a button for advance search. I did that so you could see that it is possible to switch between search types. Normally a store would use one search or the other. Course using power search for your mobile, you can also do the faceted searcing.

Thanks. The reason why we are using meta keywords is because that's what we have been using in the past so it make sense at that time to continue using that for search result even though google stated they no longer using that field for search. I guess, I can either create a new custom field and migrate the meta keywords value over or use your recommendation and replace the power search token. Not sure which method would be easier.

Question I have is how would you use facet search in mobile? How would that look like given the real estate limitation.

Yes. Take a look at emporiumplus.com via a smartphone. The advanced search is using power search. The facets are drop down selects. It works just fine, IMHO.
