    LinkPoint Merchant Setup issues

Today, after finally getting my web store all set up, I started testing the LinkPoint API interface that my merchant service provider 1st Data/CSI uses to charge credit cards through MIVA.

What is happening is that 1st Data who processes my charges, does exactly - and I mean exactly - the opposite as to what I have LinkPoint setup to do. I ran 2 real transactions through, and both times I had identical results.

I added a product to the shopping basket, I filled out the (my own credit card was used) shipping and billing information to a T, chose a shipping method and MC as payment, went on to the next screen were I entered Credit Card payment info, verified all the credit card entries, and then hit submit.

The MIVA checkout did the following after I clicked on the Continue button which initiated the actual payment process/approval.

After a few seconds it took me back to the Checkout: Payment Information page that I just came from. On top, over the item listing, there was in red writing the following message:
Unable to authorize payment: Declined: address verification failure
No other part of the screen had changed, and even so I clicked to leave the secure page, the credit card information I entered was still visible when I was thrown back to the “declined” page, which is nothing else then the Checkout: Payment Information page. But that at least allowed me to verify my entries once more, and all entries were correct.

LinkPoint is the only checkout payment module enabled in my Payment Configuration.
I don’t believe that it is the MIVA / LinkPoint module, as the checkout page prompted only for the credit cards I chose to accept. Plus a custom message that I added inside the Cardservice/LinkPoint Payment Gateway by means of an entry into the CVV2 Message area, all were correctly displayed on the checkout screen.

But it seems like that everything I asked my Cardservice/LinkPoint Payment Gateway module to do, it did just the opposite.

    My settings are/were:

    Enabled:
    Credit Verification Code Required
    Store entire Credit Card number
Available Payment Methods: American Express, MC and VISA all with CCV2 required

Reject transactions that fail address number verification
Reject transactions that fail ZIP code verification

    Not enabled;
    Pre-Auth/Post Auth
    Testing Mode

The MIVA checkout did the following after I clicked on the Continue button that initiated the actual payment process/approval.

I then called LinkPoint/1st Data and asked for help.

During the conversation the LinkPoint agent verified the following to me.
That both times the transaction actually went through, but it was handled as a pre-Auth only, not as a straight forward sale as I have my settings set to do.

I asked him as to how it can be possible as to get a message on the MIVA screen that clearly stated that the transaction was declined. He said to refer to MIVA, or in my case to my MIVA hosting partner, as he is not trained to help solve MIVA shopping cart issues.

I further quizzed him as to how it is possible that there was as message like "address verification failure" displayed on the MIVA screen, when the address verification actually must have gone through without a problem.
He said that it did not, that both address and zip code information did not match what was on file. Again, in my setup I am very specific as to not to authorize a charge if the address and zip code verification fails, and yet my credit card processor, 1st Data, authorized the transaction on their side.

I was able to confirm that both my charges are on hold at my credit card issuing bank. So the transaction made it all the way through to my bank.

I am confused, as I know that it does not work, but am not sure as to how to approach this problem. 1st Data already told me that they are not responsible and cannot be of any help. I personally am not to 100% sure that I might not be the one to have caused this, maybe making an erroneous click in the 2 weeks that I have spent setting up the site. Or is there any other logical reason to this?

Having written so much about this problem, I hope someone out there is able to read into my predicament and is capable to point me in the right direction for a solution.

Again, I appreciate your help. This forum has been good to me J in helping me to overcome my inadequacies as they relate to this somewhat confusing shopping cart setup.

The transaction was declined by miva because the address did not match the address on your account. This is by design.

The transaction was not charged as a sale because you selected Pre-Auth. If you want the transaction charged, you need to select Sale.
