How to handle customer usernames that are not email addresses?

My client takes phone orders and enters them into Miva. These customers don't have an associated email address. When he tries to create a new customer with the Miva Customer Create screen it says the login is invalid. Is there a way to allow for users without email addresses and without their login as an email address?

I would think there is a simple solution for this but I have searched the documentation and past threads and can't find anything on it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You could ask them for their email over the phone. If they don't have one, hence calling in the order, make one up with:

    [email protected].

If doesn't have to be an actual email address on your domain, and you can create a bounce rule in your control panel to send all emails of this nature to trash, or just an un-monitored email address...just in case you need to access say a recover password attempt.

Thanks Bruce, I was hoping for a better method without fake email addresses, but I guess it isn't there. Funny how in Miva 4 you couldn't have email address logins, and now you can only have them.

That's a bug actually and will be fixed in V9. You should be able to have it either way.
