Is there any way to reconfigure the sitemap (SMAP) created by Miva?

Hi,

Does anyone know if there's a way to have Miva generate the sitemap (SMAP) for a very large site... 20,000+ products... into a better layout and even into multiple pages to make it easier for search engines and users to digest?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, no...but out XML site map tool (Moogle) is now free (thanks to Miva)...so you've got that going for ya. (See signature)



(BTW: Site maps, especially one's that large, are completely useless for humans and search engines. Neither will make it past about 100 links. :) )

Wheres the rest of the url? How are you processing that link?

Moogle reads the definition from SEO links if used, or lets you create a manual style using the cat-code and prod-code tokens. Complete description is in the user guide.

We use the .htacess file to rewrite the Miva product pages exactly like this --> www.oursite.com/00001/
*00001 being the product code... and ending in the forward slash and that's it.

Is it possible to configure the Moogle module to handle that?

But, I know you are not in a position to change this, but for everyone else, leaving off a designation between product, category and page is not a good idea.

Product urls should have something in them to designate that they are products. Category urls as well. The goal is not to make the shortest URL possible, the goal is to have URLs be 'relevent' So, www.mysite.com/products/product-code.html is actually BETTER SEO wise than mysite.com/product-code/ (and, as a human, I prefer to see .html so I know I'm going to a specific page).

Hi,

Ok I changed the manual link setup and I seem to have it done it correctly (*i spot tested several of the links it generated and they were correct).

But there's a problem... I am getting a parsing error warning from Chrome and Google Webmaster tools.
When I look at the line with the problem they are referring to everything looks ok and that line seems no different than the others... ??

This is the error message I'm getting -->

This page contains the following errors:
error on line 4554 at column 238: xmlParseEntityRef: no name

Any idea how I can fix that?

Put in a support request from within the module interface itself (the Support link) and we'll look at it right away.
