top ten uses for Emporium Plus Tool Kit v5 ?

What are your top ten uses for Emporium Plus Tool Kit v5 ?

Ok. I'm finally gonna get Emporium Plus's Tool Kit v5. I've got an idea or two of how I'm going to use it (first up ... inserting a url safe product name into the store url), but I'm curious what everyone else uses it for?

I'm also going to see if I can use it to call php scripts like I do with External File Pro v5.

Now ... if only emporiumplus.com will come out of maintenance mode so I can buy it!

The store is not in maintenance mode. I was offline for a couple hours. You can still place orders and I fill it when I am back online.

      1. Integration of Post Affiliate Pro.

      2. Including external file content on Miva Merchant pages.

      3. Mini Basket (also using Wow Wow Widgets).

      4. Calculating savings with a "sale price" scenario.

      5. Counting (such as in a 3 across cat page layout, counting three products, then drawing a line, so there's a line between each row).

We've done many more than that - but those are our favorites.

I've used it to create a random featured item display.

I'm going to be using it on our new MM5 site for:

Best Selling Product List (bestseller function)
                  What's New List (last function)
                  Math functions (various)
                  Render Page (render function)
                  Substring (substring function)
                  Currency Format function
                  Mini Basket (basket function)
                  VLength & VAssign functions

I'm by no means a Miva guru and I was able to get all of these implemented with minimal headaches in our new Miva 5 site (see signature below).

Those tool tips are awesome. How come your site doesn't have any product images?

Joe, nice looking miva 5 site. Two things: 1) Why don't you use search engine friendly links in your miva links? 2) The itallian / english name switch in the menu is interesting, but annoying. Don't take offense. I say bravo for the conceptual integration of your italian brand, but it ultimately makes for bad usability. Initially I thought it was a javascript glitch. And when I finally figured it out after a couple minutes, I was then forced to try and remember what the selection was after I moved off of it with my mouse. Very confusing. Again, don't take offense. It's a great looking site.

Thanks for the great feedback! and trust me - no offense taken - that's the type of info which is good too know. The Italian mouse-over to English was the owner's idea - I explained that it will be a bit confusing/intimidating to folks who don't know any Italian (like myself). So I have the menu redone in CSS - not java script in English only. I may do an Italian version of the site as well too please Andy Ceriello.

As far as the SEO friendly links - that's on my to do list. I've been looking at a lot of different ways to do it and not quite sure what's the best way. I saw a few modules out there bu the I also saw and article about creating them manually with the .htaccess file. I'd love have anyone's input on best practice/way to implement the short links. I'm not afraid of doing work - I'm just starting to run out of time to get this site done and launched. Do you have any suggestions for fastest way to implement the short HTML links?

In the past you had to get a 3rd party category tree module, but that is no longer necessary. You can easily implement the SEO urls without any 3rd party modules as all links can be edited within the templates now.

Thanks Bill! I just found the article describing how to do shorten the URL's. I'll give t a go and see what kind of mess I can make with spending more dinero. Thanks again!

Like Bill said, you don't need any modules. Just read up on .htaccess on google and it shouldn't take any time at all the the code in the category tree and page templates (it might take some looking, but once you know it's not hard to find them). Of all the things you do, it's definitely worth the time. Easier to crawl for google means more visitors, which means more potential sales.

That's why I got the tool kit, so I can make my product links look something like this:

                            HTML Code:
                            http://www.domain.com/My-Product-Name-Here-/Category-Code/Product-Code.html

I use it for New Arrivals - and it is great. Please check at www.NY-123.com. Also, I use it for the Top Sellers. However, sometimes Top Sellers list is empty. I wonder what I am doing wrong. Any ideas?
