The only thing (yeah right) on my request for features and I don't think this should really be a big deal is to NOT have to click the "Go" button when searching for a product. I hate being int he admin and trying to lookup something (product, customer, etc) and having to "click" a button to have it search. How about setting focus on the submit button whatever it may be so a simple nice and easy <enter> on the keyboard does the trick?
I would whole-heartedly concur that this would be appreciated among merchants.

Please? Pretty Please?
Besides that just hurry up with the calendar and make it Feb - I need some of those new unlisted features! (I think)
Hope everyone is having a nice and BUSY Holiday!
In case you haven't figured it out, you can hit tab then enter to submit the form. Its faster than using the mouse at least.
Good point about the <tab><enter> - I do use that on occasion - my problem is a I get a bit punchy sometimes and fat-finger it so I'll hit tab 2 times by mistake and then I gotta figure out where I am! I guess I have my right hand trained better then my left!
Sorry that is not what I meant. Currently when you delete a product from Miva, the image still remains on the server. We never thought about that and we found out years later. Now we have tons of images we no longer use and paying extra storage for same every month. I thought it might be a good idea to add some type of check box asking if you wish to delete all images associated with this product at the same time -or something like that for MM5.
By the way, if you have any suggestions for MM4 -We love to hear it.
Bill W. has a mod that would look for missing images I think.
Seems like him or one of the coders could come up with a way to build on that and create a table to log the image file names as active or inactive and then another script step could tell the server to delete the file names.
The enduser could easily create the active list and upload a file to server for a properly written script to act on if that would make building it even simpler.
While I'd love to see almost all of these things especially,
ability to assign categories within product, choose primay category for product, work with WYSIWYG programs, assign a category to two parents...
The biggest thing I'd love is more books and documentation.
Wow allot of info here..... We just got Miva 5 for a new store we are doing and I am going thru a list of modules i believe we would need to get up and running.
But now after seeing this 5.5 im wondering if I should now wait... In fear that 5.5 will bring some of these fucnctions to the system, therfore making some module purchases unnecessary.
Hi Dan - a lot of this thread has turned into a features request list - I'm not sure how many of these will actually be in MM 5.5 - it will be interesting to see the release list.
The initial release list of 5.5 (as opposed to features we'll stream in later) includes the same 5 items that are in our previous "official" posts:
1. Updated admin interface
2. Dreamweaver integration
3. Skins
4. Included 100% CSS skin (along with the old HTML one)
5. SEO features in the admin
Can you share a little more information?
1. What's updated? Is it a new UI, or just removed some old links? I think I remember something about losing the wizard interface, is that true?
2. How exactly is this going to work? We use Dreamweaver for our static pages. Will Miva be automatically updated if we change our Dreamweaver template?
3. Will there be a complete template layer added to the store (eg. Smarty style)? Or is this simply a way to distribute look and feels based on the current layouts?
4.
5. Define SEO. Pretty-links? Meta tags? Alt text? "Duplicate content"?

Obvously I am not a Miva spokeperson. But if I were in their position, I would wait till the Miva Merchant Conference 2008 on Feb 28th in San Diego, CA before making any more anoucements to avoid loosing some thunder. Otherwise what's the point for those attending the meeting? ;)
Though I do think it would be in their best interest to record all of their presentations and post them on YouTube. I would also recommend the same for others making presentations (free publicity).
If the 5.5 feature list is the only reason to go to the conference, then I'm glad I'm not going. As it is, I kinda wish I was because the conferences offer a LOT of insight into the industry and a number of the presentations would be great to hear. I don't believe people are going to the conference for a 1 day head start on knowing the exact features of 5.5.
That being said, if Miva wants to hide the exact changes until the conference in order to create some hype or anticipation, that's certainly one route to take, and its entirely their call.
