Testing the Invoice Page - Please Help.

Can anyone tell me how to view and test the invoice page. Since this page comes "after" the order process, I'd like to test it without first placing an order and charging a credit card for a purchase. There must be a way to do this.

Sorry if this might be a newbie question. But it's one that's been bugging me for some time.

Assign the check module for testing and use that. You have to go through the entire process to test the INVC screen.

D'oh! It's one of those responses where I looked at it and said, oh yeah. Well now don't I feel dumb. Thanks for the workaround. Unfortunately, this means taking our site offline and I don't think we want to do that. Or if we do, we'll probably do it at a time where traffic is really low. Too bad there's no simple way to test this without turning on the check payment module. But thanks. It's a good solution.

Check payment module is good, but you can also use dummy test cards if you'd like to test your payment gateway at the same time, to make sure everything works exactly as your customers would see. Here are the test numbers you can use:

Visa: 4111-1111-1111-1111
MasterCard: 5431-1111-1111-1111
Amex: 341-1111-1111-1111
Discover: 6011-6011-6011-6611

I should have clarified. Dummy test cards won't work in this situation, because our payment gateway gives a message (to show the card works), but then does not continue to the invoice page. I've used dummy cards to test all other pages in the Miva system, but the invoice page is the only page on the site I can't test, due to this limitation. Only a "live" card will work to get to the invoice page.

Which payment gateway are you using? You may need to set it to "test mode" to accept test card numbers and continue to the invoice page...

I'm using the Rodopi Payment Gateway (RPG). The testing cards work fine. You can test every page, it's just that when you get to the credit card process page, it says "Hard Declined" which actually means the payment gateway / dummy cards work without a problem. But you cannot continue onward to the invoice page. I know all about dummy cards, and they work fine for testing all aspects of the site. Just not the invoice page. In any event, for right now, I'll use the check payment module if I need to test. Thanks for all your help.

Thank you Nerd Boy. That's exactly what I am looking for. Now, since I'm very new to Miva, would you be able to tell me how to install this file? It's a single file. Do I just upload it and/or run some kind of maintenance setup on Miva. Any help on setup instructions would be much appreciated.

Again, thanks so much. This is perfect. Simple idea and yet solves a very frustrating problem.

Dear Rob,

Log in to Admin, hit the ADD Link next to Modules.

Follow the prompts.

Go to Payment Configuration and install it in the store.

You should be ready to go.

It only works on MySQL stores.

Thanks again. I'm just heading out of the office, but I'll give it a whirl first thing tomorrow morning and see how it goes. I'm sure it will be fine. And yes, we're using MySql for the store. I'll let you know how it goes once I install the module and run the test. First, of course I have to back up the store, yadda yadda yadda. You know how it is.

Thanks for the module. This really is quite nice. I needed to make some changes to my invoice screen and now I can test them easily.
