New Google Analytics Code - Update?

    Hello,

I wanted to followup with a post from last year regarding Google's new Analytics Tracking code (ga.js). When it first came out it appeared to be buggy so I let it go. I'm just wondering if anyone has been using it and how well it is working.

If you do have it working, would you mind supplying a sample of your goal conversions tracking code? This was the part that was not working right for me. I was pretty confident that my code was correct but I'd like to confirm that.

    Thanks.

ga.js E-Commerce Conversion Tracking code seems to be working fine now.

Re: New Google Analytics Code - Update?

I am trying to use/test both, 'Google Conversion Tracking' and 'Analytics'.

And actually, I'm trying to make the Google Conversion a 'Sale', and I have set-up a 'Goal' in Analytics as a 'Sale'.

But I'm not seeing any Conversions on the Google Conversion side... And I'm seeing multiple Goal 1's, which *should* be sales.

      Can someone tell me...

      1. Where should I be putting adwords 'Conversion' tracking code??

      2. Where should I be putting the ga.js code for Analytics??

      3. How do you set-up a 'goal' in Analytic correctly??? What do you use for 'Match Type' and the URL?

      Thanks,

      Allyn

eMediaSales has a free Google Analytics Module w/ instructions. Sebenza also has some Google Analytics installation instructions.

...or, our standard installation for Google Analytics w/ Funnel Visualization Setup runs $75.00.

Use the free module by eMedia, it works very well :)

FYI, we are now using the new ga.js code for our Google Analytics installations.

              Allyn,

              1. You'll want to place the Adwords conversion code in the page you want to track, probably INVC. https://adwords.google.com/support/b...86276&hl=en_US.

              2. The ga.js code will go in the final page which verifies your goal has been reached (i.e. INVC for sale, a contact page or whatever else you want to track).

I've attached Google Analytics Migration Guide.

              3. If your URLs contain a session ID during checkout, then set up the funnel as a Head Match and put the first part of your checkout URL in each of the funnel steps, up to ?Session_ID. Just go through your checkout and place each pages' URL in Step 1, Step 2 etc of the funnel.

                Hi,

I've setup the eMediaSales module but I'm not getting any sales conversion data.

                What gives ?

                1. Do I need to use Regular Expression Match type ?

                2. I've setup /T/OCST.html as Step1 in the Funnel definition. Do I need to add ORDL.html ?

                Thanks

How long has it been since you set it up? It takes 48 hours or so for the data to start showing up.

I set this up a couple of months ago.

& Yes, I did follow the instructions mentioned in the link you gave me.

                      Thanks

Do you have the "e-commerce store" setting turned on in your analytics account?

I would check to make sure the conversion tracking item is on the Invoice Screen. You can alos run a test order and then do a view source to see if the transaction tracking code is there and passing the proper values.

From there, I would recommend putting in a support ticket with eMediaSales.

You may also want to consider moving to the new ga.js code in the near future. The module is still using the old tracking and conversion code at this point.

I really appreciate you taking the time to respond to my questions. I will log a ticket with emediasales. Incidentally I do see the conversion tracking item in the Invoice Screen. Also, even though my miva admin page shows 1000s of hits & visits, google shows 0. Obviously there is a discrepancy or some configuration setting not quite right.

If I do move to the latest ga.js code, does the module have to be disabled ?

                              Thank you once again.
