Authorize.Net is down for the count.

Our last order came in at 1:30am EST, and sometime thereafter Auth.Net went down. Even the web interface is inaccessible so anyone who relies on them should switch to simple validation and start capturing credit card numbers to be authorized at a later time.

Anyone with info please contribute to this thread so that those of us whose weekend is now on hold until we can get some peace of mind can stay updated.

    Thanks,
    -Mike

I added a note to the outage thread http://extranet.mivamerchant.com/for...ad.php?t=20154 and for anyone who sees this and needs steps to switch to simple validation, please see http://extranet.mivamerchant.com/for...5&postcount=19

I would like to add that if anyone knows of a Credit Card processor that actually notifies it's customers when there is an outage, please post it here. I think it is outrageous that a company like Auth.Net can go down and not let it's customers know that they are aware of the problem and are working on it. If I had gotten an email hours earlier letting me know there was a problem, I could have enabled Simple Authentication and probably saved a few sales.

As it is, thousands (if not more) merchants are totally in the dark, and probably bombarding Auth.Net with requests for info when a simple email blast could have probably saved all of us a lot of anxiety. Does anyone know of a merchant who does such a thing?

PayPal 'generally' sends notices of Payflow Pro outages, not 100% but most of the time, and they do let you know of maintenance windows well in advance.

Just a word to the wise, I have spoken with another vendor who is seeing a 'chargeback' debited from his checking account this morning from Auth.Net. If their site was hacked, is it possible the offenders reached into customer bank accounts and withdrew money? I'm seeing an unanticipated charge myself for over $800.....

That's kind of scary, wonder if they intentionally shut down after a break-in. I thought pci compliance would protect everything? :)

Just tried to call their support line and there is a message saying they are gone for the holiday. So let me understand this... one of the most busiest payment gateways has no one around 24/7 even on holidays.... this is horrible!

                  Nevermind, it was Adwords. :[

If this was a planned attack then it was brilliant. Most companies are closed, or are closing early and if Auth.Net was on a skeleton crew for the weekend then they are going to have a heck of a time recalling their people. Does anyone know what percentage of their business is Point of Sale terminals? If it's a lot then my guess is long lines at the grocery stores this weekend when people find out they can't pay with a credit card!

Anyone have any thoughts on what they're going to do if this isn't resolved within a few hours? The thought of running a few hundred credit cards manually does not thrill me. I thought about applying for an account with Miva's processor (IMS) - they claim to be able to get you up and running within 24 hours. Anyone know anything about them?

I switched to simple validation and the module show four credit cards, but when I did a test checkout only Visa showed up on our site. Does anyone know why?

Been poking around and found the following 2 threads that indicate there was a fire in a data center and they are waiting for the Fire Dept to let them back in the building so they can implement their contingency plans.

In another forum, someone posted that after calling the US numbers and getting the recording that they were closed for the holiday, they called the British headquarters and were told that there was a fire at their US datacenter. If that is true it may be a long time before they are up again. I switched my store to simple validation and am emailing those who tried to place an order but couldn't to try again.

Seems legit. They had a fire and are waiting to get back into the building. No clue why nothing is being re-routed through their backup datacenter -- I hope they have one, else they probably won't be online today at all!

                              David,

I have followed your instructions regarding Credit Card Payment with Simple Validation. However, only Visa is showing up on our website. Discover, Amex, and MC are listed on the Simple Validation page in the admin but do not appear as an option at checkout. We are on Miva 3. Let me know if you have any suggestions on how to fix this! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

                              Thanks,
                              Jon
