anyone using pop ups for messages during checkout

My boss would like to have a pop-up during checkout reminding customers about our holiday shipping schedule. Is anyone else using a javascript pop-up during checkout? I searched the forums and saw no mention of this being done. Maybe there's a module for this?

    Thanks, eli

My browser would block it anyway. Are you referring more to a way of having a button they could click on? I would avoid a true pop up

Place the message INLINE make it OBVIOUS...AND include it in the email...

I think that a true pop-up, which would open when the page loads, would be blocked by most browsers nowadays.

You can have a popup that is triggered by an onclick event, that probably won't get blocked.

Maybe the best would be to have it inline in bold as Bruce mentioned, and if you have a lot of additional details, have an onclick popup window with further details.

Here's a free tip that may or may not help boost sales:

One thing I have noticed using google analytics is that when someone goes through the checkout process, they might click on one of the links in our ever-present navbar (such as our shipping cost page, or returns policy page). This takes them away from the checkout process and MIGHT cause the sale to be lost.

So I have a conditional set up so that if someone is on the checkout pages and they click the navbar links for Shipping Costs, Returns Policy, About Us, contact us, etc., it will instead change to an onclick popup window, so they won't actually navigate away from the checkout page.

        Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies everyone. These were the kinds of thoughts I also had about having checkout pop-ups but I wanted some backup before I made another suggestion to my boss. :) I plan on going with a bolded, different colored message in the header on one of the checkout messages.

          Happy Thanksgiving!

            Hello,
Found a great product asy to use and won't be blocked by popups. it is a hover ad and has many capabilities on how to display it. You can find it at
            http://dpopup.com/
You can see it in use at our page www.hocks.com. Go all the way to the checkoup page then move your curser to the exit button like you are going to close the page. This is just one of the uses. We are using it to help increase conversions. Hope that helps. Relatively inexpensive also.
