Re: Gift Certificates for MM and Brick & Mortar Store

    Rick,

Went to their site – Chase Paymentech has also offices in Europe.

    European headquarters
    Ireland
    Block K
    East Point Business Park
    Dublin 3
    Ireland
    353-1-889-3155

The irony is I am at ½ hour drive from where they are...

Before you answer, let me tell you the requirements to make this work and the real question I have is would people go through all of this to have this feature:

      1. They would need to have both their brick and mortar and online merchant account(s) through Chase Paymentech. It could all be one account, but it would need to connect via the Orbital Gateway (which is version 5.x only) to Chase Paymentech for their Miva Merchant store and also have their swipe terminal in their store connected to Chase Paymentech.

      2. They would need to buy the gift cards via Chase Paymentech, I believe they are about $15 per 100 cards.

      3. When someone buys a card online or in the store they would get an "account". The Merchant would then swipe a card to fill it with that customers balance and if it was online mail them the card.

If they were to do all 3 items above they could provide gift cards that worked like credit cards in both the store and online. Also it's worth noting they do NOT charge a transaction fee on the giftcards so at $.15 or so a card it's cheap compared to credit cards.
I am very interested in this, but one main question is this card available only at the intended store or is it a visa card?

It's not a Visa but actually a store specific gift card.

How is this coming? We have started to get emails from customers asking us if we offer giftcards. I was planning on issuing a coupon and calling the number a "Giftcard" but this solution isn't great if customer has $100 GC and only wants to buy $25 today. Carrying the balance seems essential to be a true GC.

          So:
          1. we need the balance maintained, don't care how
          2. would like to be able to show how the balance was used
          3. could use it as a coupon or other price reducer, and pay with another card the remaining balance if there is one.

                Hi Rick,

Any news about this option yet? We are trying to find a solution for in-store and online gift card options. We are currently with Chase and would like to use their gift card system but can only use them in-store which seems a little silly.
                Thanks,
                Christine

                  Christine,

No and at this point the timeline is Medium term at best (longer than 12 months from now).
                  Thanks,

Just joining the club to voice the request for my clients. Same problem with the GC and they asked already Brennan without much success. They hope something will be possible before TG :)
