Ultimate Coupons: Coupons Require Proper Case - Help

We have created coupons with this module that are text coupons (ie: ShipMeForFree) and unless the customer enters the coupon code using the exact case it was created it in the coupon will not work. I have tried adding the codes using different case but same code and obviously that throws a DB error. How can we get the module to see different case as the same? We are getting a lot of user error, thus a lot of customer service questions because they cannot get the case correct.

only work around i can see (unless you can get the author to change it, is to create (meaning delete and recreate) all coupon codes in upper case, then use the javascript toupper function (var a1 = str.toUpperCase(); ) to change the variable on exit from the field.

Javascript is the only solution unless you want to change coupon modules.

it is odd that the current module doesn't support case-insensitve so you might check with the developer and see if its not a bug or there has been an update. (it would take about 5 seconds to change that in the code...ok, 20 minutes with all the house-keeping).

but this does remind me of something we often do to avoid angry customers...add typical miss-spellings of coupons. to use your example, i'd create coupon codes like:

ShipForFree
ShipFree
Ship For Free
Ship Free
etc.

Better to have one extra coupon redeemed than a dozen or so attempts by "real" targets of your advertising.
