    Framework

Do i have to design the site in Miva and then save it as a framework to create it? Is it possible to create/edit a framework outside of Miva?

Also i didn't see an option to update an existing framework with recent changes.

    Re: Framework

You can update an existing framework, but it cannot be resaved as the same framework. It is saved into a new (albeit only modified), discrete framework.

You can edit or create a framework outside of MM by exporting your pages/components with our Dreamweaver plugin and then editing in Dreamweaver. You would then re-import the pages and save whatever pages/components you want as a new framework.

Creating a framework from scratch outside of MM is trickier, primarily because you won't have all the items that call various components in your templates by default. Of course, you can always copy those over from MM as needed, but my recommendation would be to use the steps above.

Also to be clear we've modified what we're calling Skins. The Framework isn't designed to be changed after you build your store, it's like laying a foundation.

If you start with the CSS Framework as a foundation you can change the css file in that framework in other programs and they change the look and feel of your store. And that's what we consider a Skin.

Ahh, thanks for the update. The framework will be great in setting up the basics that i usually set up on all stores.

          Re: Framework

Not sure if this bug has been posted before but i found an error when changing frameworks.

I had a custom page called "email" saved in my framework. I then changed the custom page to "test" and activated css_fw. Then after that i went to apply my custom framework and i got an error saying it failed to add the page "email" and loading the framework failed.

I went and changed the custom page to "email" again and it worked fine.

            More framework errors

Installed MM5 and updated it to MM5.5 with the stream and then applied the framework i had created in MM5.5 RC1 and still had errors with it not creating custom pages.

After creating the custom pages it must have failed to activate all the page items in the custom pages when applying the framework.

            I got this message:

            Code:
Framework 'Plan Aus Beta 2' applied
              Warning Message(s):
Unable to find template named 'cntc-footer.mvc'
Unable to find template named 'cntc-head.mvc'
Unable to find template named 'cntc-header.mvc'

I manually activated the items then tried to apply the framework again and it got rid of the errors.

              Re: Framework

Also - it looks like the framework doesn't save HEAD tag content? At least when i loaded up the framework it lost all the code attaching the CSS file

I dont know if that is a bug in how the framework is saved or how it loads.

                More Problems...

No idea why this is happening, applied the framework and got an error with the page header/footer

Runtime error in /mm5/5.00/modules/component/cmp-mv-hdft.mvc @ [00000011:0000011a]: modules/component/cmp-mv-hdft.mv: Line 675: MvDO: Unable to open '/mm5/5.00/templates/s01/cntc-header.mvc': No such file or directory

Wish i could edit my posts, then this thread wouldnt have so many posts by me :P

Frameworks seems to have issues with Assigning items, "Buttons" wasn't activated on SFNT even though it all was on in the original store i saved the framework in.

                    Re: Framework

I ran into this same issue in an earlier beta. I guess that wasn't fixed. The problem I had was on the SRCH page. When using power search the product_list item is supposed to be unassigned because it does its own array building which is much different from the default. So when importing a framework (eg the css) it expects that item to be assigned but it is not. So it bombs out. You had to assign the product_list. Import the framework. Go back and unassign the product_list. That will get a few support questions.

                      Re: Framework

I'm not sure i understand now, will people be selling frameworks because if your selling frameworks i can only imagine i would be dissapointed if i had to fiddle with adding custom pages and assigning items to make the framework i purchased work.

Or was that dropped when they became Frameworks instead of skins.

                        Re: Framework

The initial release of frameworks requires that the pages/items that are part of the framework are installed.

We'll be making improvements to this process in the next release.

                        Thanks.
