Storefront Message Bug

To test the default framework I spent several days modifying stuff. That included a lengthy storefront message in the admin > store > messages tab. This morning I switched framework to the css. Unbelievably, the switch replaced my storefront message with "<h1>Title for the home page</h1>". Why? The welcome message is the store welcome message. It does not change just because the framework has changed.

In addition to the above, the css is messed up as the message is shoved to the bottom of the screen below the bottom of the category column. See http://mm55.emporiumplus.com/mm5/merchant.mvc

I've noticed a couple buggy instances with the default framework, but its hard to reproduce them.

This is the css framework. Are you using the css framework? Does your storefront welcome message appear just under the nav bar or is it pushed way down the page like http://mm55.emporiumplus.com/mm5/merchant.mvc

The error in question is an intermittent installation error which has been hard to reproduce, not a CSS bug. The cattree template is not being overwritten with the new template code from the framework. Alex is looking into it.

I see what you mean. The category tree is set to default. If I click the template radio button, the template code input is blank.

After fixing this bug, will it require a complete reinstall or will we be able to replace a mvc file? I'd like to know if I am just spinning my wheels installing modules, as it may have to be done all over again.

The problem I had was with the CSS framework (which was default before, but I can't remember anymore). There were little quirks here and there, but they were hard to reproduce sometimes. I know the one I remember was the body class attribute was not being written, but it is required for that framework. I believe that was fixed in the RC, but I haven't had much time to test the RC.

Reinstalling the CSS Framework should be able to happen without a complete reinstall. I'll have Alex post shortly.

Bill,

I still can't reproduce this error, although it is frequently reported.
To rebuild the category tree template go to your scripts directory/mm5/5.00/templates/s0#store_num#/ and delete the cattree.mvc file.
Then go back to your store and hit the reset button...the template should then be rebuilt.

Any help finding the actual bug that breaks the template would be greatly appreciated :)

Ok, that partially worked. If you have the setting in the category tree as default and the framework at css, the positioning problem still exists. You have to switch to the template mode in the category tree admin screen and then click update. It must run the template code to work at all.

Of course the really bad news is it is NOT using the css framework for the template code. The nice buttons are gone. The font tags are back. Do you have a copy of the nice css template code for the tree you can copy and paste here so I can overwrite what I have? This is what I have currently. http://mm55.emporiumplus.com/mm5/merchant.mvc

I do...but there might be greater benefit for you to get familiar with the source to a framework.

Extract the css framework package.
Go to components >> category_tree.htm
Copy the block of code between CDATA[ ] and paste it into the Category Tree Template.

Extract css framework: Where is it? How is it extracted?

I don't have a components selection in admin?

Sorry. I thought I explained it in another post :)

So when I say framework, I'm referring to the actual package (css_fw.pkg).

This file is located in scripts/mm5/frameworks/0000000#store_num#.

Go to this directory in your shell and unzip/untar it: bunzip2 -c css_fw.pkg |tar xvf -

This should extract the contents of a framework package.

I use pkzip and it did not recognize the file. Is everybody going to have to get a new zip program when frameworks are messed up?

Is bunzip2 a dos program? Where do I get it? Is it unzipped on the server or on the pc? Just not enough info.
