    Gold Candidate Stream

The Gold Candidate Stream is available to beta testers right now.

Go into Domain Setting -> Upgrade Settings

Change the url in there from ..../updates/..... to ..../updates/beta/.....

It's important that you only test this on dev stores as this store could technically still get orphaned if a major bug were to be found.

Please report any bug finds ASAP to this list.

Froze up on my end without any sort of an error. (let it sit for about hour and a half before closing the update window) Everything seems to be working minus the launch pad and the admin is missing all of its images.

              Dan,

You need install the pr4 config.mvc in /mm5/5.00/lib/ and remove the production-5 line from the upgradeinstalledpatches.dbf for mivasql or upgradeinstalledpatches table for MySQL. After doing both of those go into mivadata/Merchant5/patches and remove production-5.pkg and /production-5/. Once you do all of this you can rerun the upgrade wizard.

If you don't have a virgin copy of the pr-4 config.mvc download the distribution from FTP or private message me and I'll send it to you.

So far it appears the only problem is using Safari browser. Have others successfully run this stream on a 5.0 store?

Second attempt, using FireFox (Mac), updated without any issues.

                    Re: Gold Candidate Stream

I was able to upgrade the pin emporium with 95 of my modules in it and did not have any errors. It took about 30 minutes. I used Firefox. If Safari can't be used, there should be some sort of warning so folks won't mess up their store.

I see that page templates have been modified by this upgrade, including manually created pages. I have not tested everything to make sure it is still working, but so far it looks good.

Is this store now orphaned of will I be able to update when new updates come out?

Can we have a list of database structure changes, if there were any?

With API 5.5, are there any new functions required by any of the features?

                      Re: Gold Candidate Stream

The first sentence of the release notes warns about Safari but the vast majority will miss that.

You shouldn't be orphaned unless something major is found.

I'll let Alex answer the dbase and API questions.
                      Thanks,

I didn't even see a message about Safari. This should be a javascript check before the button to upgrade appears. That would alert those who have javascript turned on.

                            Re: Gold Candidate Stream

I haven't tested this stream yet (as I had already upgraded my test stores with the previous stream) but it's supposed to be the first line in the release notes.

I'll talk to Alex and Mark tomorrow and see what other options we have regarding Safari.
                            Thanks,

                              Ah, it is there:
WARNING: THIS UPDATE REQUIRES 20-30 MINUTES TO INSTALL. PLEASE DO NOT CLOSE THIS WINDOW OR OTHERWISE INTERRUPT THIS PROCESS.
This update requires Firefox or Internet Explorer for a seamless installation (THIS UPDATE WILL NOT WORK IN SAFARI).
It is recommended to put the store(s) of this domain in Maintenance Mode before running the stream.
