Questions: Pending vs Processing

Hello,

I wonder if this is a bug?

With Authorize net. After I capture a sale, should the status change to processing?

If not, what is the difference between Pending and Processing?

No that's not a bug.

Processing means you've created a shipment for the Order and has nothing to do with if you've captured or not.

The states have to do with fulfillment not money.

Not specifically.

Our thinking was this:

If you're doing digital downloads or same day shipping, the vast majority of our customers use Pre Auth/Post Auth so there is never a need to Capture as it's done at the time of sale.

If you're Authorizing Now, Capturing Later, you should leave the order as Pending until you're ready to Ship, at which time you would Capture the funds and then Create A Shipment which would move the order into Processing and essentially a "Ready To Ship" state.

There is an option to view pending orders under Manage Shipments? It comes up with no orders. When would a pending order show in Manage Shipments?

Once you've created a shipment either for a whole order or for some items within an order.

You should go to Manage Orders and filter by Pending. Then if you're shipping a whole order together click the checkbox to its left and then click Create Shipment and this point it'll automatically show up under Manage Shipments.

Under Manage Shipments. When I filter for Pending Orders. No orders show up.

Why would an order Status of Pending ever show under Manage Shipments?

I don't think we are talking about the same thing. I am talking about the option to view pending orders under Manage Shipments.
