Previously you could assign multiple products to a category just by clicking the assign all (for the products that had been filtered by) Is there a way to do this - I don't the see the direct answer to this question - thanks:

a quick way to assign products to multiple categories rapidly up and down the appropriate section of the category tree, but this does not really help that function. It would be a more useful feature for quickly assigning a product to multiple categories if it popped up under a product and had a quick assign button.

Product to Categories
Go to Catalog > Products > Edit Product > Categories tab
User (Ctrl + a) to select all records
Click on the [+] button to assign the product to those categories.

Category to Products
Go to Catalog > Categories > Edit Category > Products tab
User (Ctrl + a) to select all records
Click on the [+] button to assign the Category to those Products

You can use the search box to limit the products or categories viewed and selected as well as using the batchlist multi select mode or (ctrl + click) to select just a few from the visible list before clicking the assign button

Thanks Eric - it does; after we figured out that you can't click on the assigned button or the box left of the code. Just click on the name and it works!
