    FedEx WebServices

We would like to add FedEx WebServices to our Miva 9 store. I spoke to the people at FedEx and they said that it would require "extensive coding" on our part to make this happen. We would like to give our customers the opportunity to print their own return shipping labels thru FedEx. We are also using ShipWorks. Has anyone every set this up? Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks, Candy

The FedEx rep doesn't know what they're talking about. FedEx Web Services is the name of their API that we use to code our FedEx module. You simply turn it on under shipping and follow the Reference Guide.

What feature do you specifically want?

We would like to give our customers the ability to print their own return shipment labels. We already have FedEx setup and have been using. Can this be done? Any "how to..." out there?

Got it, yeah that's not currently built into the module. We have a semi-custom module for that using UPS and we could certainly build the same thing for FedEx. Email me and we can discuss details.

We just began using the built-in Fedex module. You just simply need to click a button to install the module. It works fine with Shipworks. Talk to your FedEx rep - they can give you capability but it might not be tied into Shipworks.

My only small complaint is that the FedEx services names are not easily editable. I will need to do some research to see if this can be customized but for example...

It would be nice if "FedEx Priority Overnight®" could be re-labeled to "FedEx Priority Overnight (by 10:30AM to most locations)".

Unfortunately also, the ® shows up in Shipworks as and on printed invoices as "FedEx Priority Overnight®". Most employees and customers read this as "and reg" as interpret it as "and regular shipping". Minor issue but annoying and unprofessional looking on customer invoices.

You should be able to modify the text displayed within the ship via drop-down list by editing the shipping method on the shipping method rules tab. Click on Menu >>> Shipping and then directly on FedEx Priority Overnight. Click on the pencil (edit) icon and enter FedEx Priority Overnight (by 10:30AM to most locations) in the display as field.

From the reference guide (page 415)
            http://www.miva.com/referenceguide

Display As: Set the text that will appear in the "Ship Via" drop-down list in the Shipping/Payment Selection screen for the shipping method (see figure above). If you leave this field empty, the system will show the default shipping method name. For example, the default Shipping Method name might "UPS Ground", but you could set the Display As text to "Standard Shipping".
