    automating product import

I saw in this 2011 post http://www.miva.com/forums/forum/onl...product-import someone mentioning a way to automate product import. The last post in 2013 seems to indicate it no longer works. Can anyone tell me if there is an automated way to do this now?

We have a catalog of products from an importer that we manually add to the site, but they don't offer any live connection to the data. Managing all the new and removed products and out-of-stock items manually is really not efficient. We have a php guy in house who can scrape the pages and dump it in to whatever format we'd need to update in Miva but would like to do that automatically at night and dumped wherever Miva needs it to run the update.

    Thanks.

There are a number of ways to accomplish this, I've asked Brennan to chime in.

In in the next release (9.0007) we have the ability to create a scheduled task to automatically import an CSV file that already exists on your Miva server. You would need to FTP the file in the correct format to the correct directory and then you can setup a scheduled task to import it at whatever time you want.

If you don't want to wait until 9.0007 we can do this now using our enterprise tools. We can give you an API endpoint where you can post XML data to directly to update data. If you prefer this method, reach out to our sales team and we can get you some additional information.

Thank you Rick and Brennan. We'll work out the site scraping bit and getting it into the correct import format thenl decide to wait or reach out to sales.

when will this import be available. I'm running 9.00067 and don't see it. The page here http://docs.miva.com/scheduled-tasks-imports says 9.7 Beta which is quite a large jump and doesn't seem to be available to update to. ???

9.7 is the next release but it's not in Beta (at least not externally). The scheduled task automated import is in that release.
              Thanks,
