Baskets --expired

Trying to track down a problem with basket data in a newer store. Finding something interesting.

I am expecting baskets ids with the corresponding basketitems to remain when the basket expires. But, when checking the tables, the bslet items have been emptied of the expired basket ids.

If it matters, current theme is Iron Wool. But after checking an older store it's also happens with 9.4 with engine 5.26. Any ideas how the baskets are getting cleaned up...unexpectedly?

Did you check for the basket cleanup scheduled task?

Scheduled Task for clean up was set to once a day. Shouldn't be a factor. However, I disabled the task and tested again. Basketitems are still getting removed somehow.

I can inquire with our developers, but I'm not clear on why you'd want to allow basket data to persist beyond the expiry time? If you need longer lasting baskets, the best option is to set the time to the required number, and keep the scheduled task to clean it up. The motivation for those features has been stores grinding to a halt from their owners never doing basket maintenance, then finding out they have a gigabyte worth of basket data built up when the stores finally slow enough to be noticed.

There is intent to clean up empty and expired baskets. But, until that scheduled task executes there is valuable data in the abandoned carts. I can capture this in other stores but we're up to 3 stores where the basket items data for a basket id is removed. Result: The scheduled task would have nothing to do.

I don't think there is a bug. But it's likely a setting/config somewhere. I can run a check this on a dev store that has over 500 expired baskets -- never being removed. We think we've eliminated the inventory -- not tracking it all. I can reproduce by setting the basket timeout to 1 (minute). Add something to the basket and start checkout but don't complete. Don't touch the front end of the store for two minutes and you should have an abandoned basket. But, the basket items are getting deleted for some reason in these stores.
