    Plural Search Issue

A store owner has pointed out that her site is having issues searching for plurals of a product. For example, if you search for "suit button" you get a plethora of results, but if you search for "suit buttons" you get this message:
No products matched your search criteria
You can try it out yourself at https://www.ascuteasabutton.com/

There are categories that have the plural of "button" in categories.

Also, the store owner has also pointed out that her Volusion store doesn't have this issue.

Is the setting for 'Use Database Full-Text Searching' enababled?

Look at User Interface > Search Settings > Searchable Fields > Checkbox

FULLTEXT queries in BOOLEAN mode should work with plurals on a table with FULLTEXT indexed fields.

So %LIKE% queries may give you better plural results.

        This thread might help:

First, I am a big fan of the new Miva Search. It let us replace the Nextopia search product without missing a beat. Now, my Miva search results are always in

I've had mixed results so you may have to toggle the checkbox and try different fields.

So it looks like I have to go edit template code to make this work?

Probably. Maybe someone from Miva can chime in and let you know if it is a FTS or LIKE query.

I ended up customizing with PREACTION_ for data scrubbing and POSTACTION_ for FTS queries.

I'm not sure why there is a FTS checkbox if it is not being used.

Well, no one else chimed in and this is still an issue. This time it seems to be using plural form of an item "rings" but the "s" isn't part of the product name nor is it in the product description. It should be noted that in this particular site, they are thin on Product Descriptions (I mentioned they should beef up/add them)
