Custom Field - image upload - allowed extensions

I'm adding a custom product field to be able to upload product documentation, all of which would be pdfs. When I create the custom field I choose image upload as the type. I see that in the current Miva you can't modify the allowed extensions in the domain settings. Current Miva documentation indicates that .pdf files are allowed. However, when I try to upload a pdf into the custom field I get an error message that says "The image extension '.pdf' is not valid"

Has anyone else run into this or is this a problem specific to my domain? Or, maybe I missed a template change??

Can you send this into our support team to take a look? We should allow pdf file types.

Am I going crazy? I thought there used to be a field that you could enter the extension for the type of file upload? For the life of me I cannot find it. I've even checked the Miva Docs...

It was removed. It can still be overridden on a per-site basis by our support staff.

LOL, I just found it in the Miva Docs - might need to do a little updating

When the field was removed, would whatever have been listed there been kept intact behind the scenes or would it revert to the default extension types? So for instance, if I had added pdf, would it still allow pdf or would it not and only allow the original extension types?

There was no change to the values set at the time; just the dialog box for altering them was removed.

So if we need to be able to upload a file with the .pdf extension and it was not previously there, we have to contact support? I sort of understand why this was done but could you not have implemented some sort of restrictions on the extension allowed instead of removing the ability altogether? I mean, one of the first extension I have had to add in the past is .png. Of the top of my head, I cannot remember if this had been included as an extension in current releases. Could you at least include something that shows what extensions are already included?

#FAIL - so now I need to get the extension .png added to a site that didn't have it already added...

png has been an included default for a very long time; was it a very old site? Either way, our support can add it to the site.

Yes, it is and you need to tell support about this change.

Our technical assistance center staff have been trained on this process. If you encountered someone who was unable to assist, my recommendation would be to ask that it be escalated, or contact the manager of TAC, Laura Schindler, or I'm happy to forward something on if you'd prefer to send me the name and ticket ID, but it isn't something that is going to be resolvable via forum post.
