Define RESTRICT for shipping

We are setting up UPS boxes and are confused about the 2 check boxes to 'Restrict to These States' and 'Restrict to These zip Codes'.
We want to EXCLUDE Alaska and Hawaii.
Does that means we highlight those 2 states - or do we highlight the other 48?
To me - literally - we would restrict to the 48......

Either. In the Include, select ALL but Alaska and Hawaii, or go to Exclude and select Alaska and Hawaii.

Hello talerco,

"Restrict to These States" means if they are highlighted restrict that method to that state. If you want to exclude Alaska and Hawaii, don't hightlight them and you'll get your desired result.

Well----I don't see Include or Exclude.
I'm in 'Shipping Method Rules' and there is a box for Restrict States' and a box for 'Restrict Countries'. The restrict states lists all the states.
I need to know if selecting a state will include or exclude it. The terms include and exclude aren't showing to me.

Look at my post above. To exclude Alaska and Hawaii don't hightlight them in the "restrict to these states" box.
